About Baptist Health Sciences University

In 1994, Baptist Memorial College of Health Sciences, now Baptist College of Health Sciences (BCHS), was officially chartered and assumed the role of specialized health education conferring bachelor’s degrees in nursing and health sciences.

BCHS offers select coursework online and through blended learning and web-assisted formats. Students participating in online instruction must complete an online assessment and enroll in an online education session. Blended learning formats typically integrate online learning with traditional on-campus coursework while web-assisted learning supplements traditional on-campus courses with online materials, like a course syllabus, assignments, or online assessments.

GetEducated Team Takes
Tony’s Take

Baptist Health Sciences University is strongest in the classroom and in clinical training. Learning is hands-on, practical, and tied to real patient care. Courses focus on skills students can use right away, including anatomy, wound care, and allergy management. Teaching stays grounded in patient-centered care.

Faculty are a major strength. Many students feel the experience gets better once clinical courses begin. Professors play a big role in that progress through clear teaching and steady support. The school’s Christian mission also adds purpose and belonging for students who want faith to be part of their education.

The biggest challenge can come early in the program. Front-end communication and scheduling may feel uneven at times. That is why a clear early course plan matters. Strong sequencing helps students stay on track and keep moving toward graduation.
