School Details

Park University was founded in 1875 under the name Park College. By 1913, the school earned accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition to overall accreditation, specialized accreditation has been awarded to the Nursing program. In 2000, the school changed its name to Park University. 

Park University works toward the mission of providing access to a quality higher education experience that prepares a diverse community of learners to think critically, communicate effectively, demonstrate a global perspective and engage in lifelong learning and service to others. The University strives to meet this mission through the continued focus and embodiment of the core values of accountability, civility and respect, excellence, global citizenship, inclusivity and integrity. Park University is a four year, not for profit, private, university that awards certificates, Associate’s degrees, Bachelor’s degrees and Master’s degrees.

The Park University main campus is located in Parkville, Missouri and the graduate school is located nearby in Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to the main and graduate school campuses, Park University has a total of 40 satellite campus located within 21 different states. The majority of the satellite campuses shares their facilities with local businesses or organizations and is typically located on or near Air Force bases.

When applying to Park University, students are required to pay a $25 application fee and to submit an electronic application and official transcripts. Students who apply to Park University are typically accepted at a rate of 76%. Of the students who were offered acceptance, about 43% decided to enroll. Students who decided to attend Park University come back for a following year of classes at a rate 67% for full time students and 50% for part time students. There is some racial diversity with the most represented race being white students who make up 54% of the student population. The other represented racial groups, African American, Asian, American Indian and Hispanic make up 19%, 2%, 1% and 17% of the student body respectively. With 52%, the majority of the student body comes to Park University from in state. There are also 15% out of state resident students and 26% international students.

There are a total of 971 faculty members, all part of the instructional faculty. These faculty members typically hold their highest degree in their specific field and place a heavy importance on the students. Faculty is able to provide specialized attention to students and interact in small class sizes due to a 12:1 student to faculty ratio.

Park University offers the guidance of its financial aid office to help students with the cost of higher education. The financial aid office can help students with the tuition payment plan and can help students find and apply for grants, scholarships and loans. Currently, 35% of the student population accepts some form of grant or scholarship aid.
