Program Details
The online Associate of General Studies is a liberal arts degree program from Yavapai College. This program is designed for students whose career, major, or transfer intent is uncertain, allowing them to uniquely design an associate degree with more flexibility in the selection of courses. You may take courses in a variety of subject areas with this liberal arts degree, forming a strong foundation in liberal arts, without being forced to choose a specific area of emphasis. General education courses are completed in the areas of mathematics, physical and biological science, arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and communication.
The curriculum is divided into three parts:
- Foundation Studies include critical literacy, precise writing, qualitative thinking, and the process of analysis and synthesis that underlie logical reasoning
- Core Studies focus on the conceptual frameworks through which a thinker, a culture, or an academic discipline may approach an issue
- Area Studies link foundation skills in thinking and communicating and the core emphasis on conceptual frameworks to the content orientation of academic disciplines
