Program Details

Prepare to build, lead, and participate in intervention programs to support students at their level of learning with minimal disruption. Learn to provide empirically validated interventions that build self-confidence in students through a near-seamless connection between classroom instruction and intervention. This program also prepares students for an optional special education licensure. The Winthrop M.Ed. in Special Education Intervention has been ranked a top online program by US News and World Report.

Specifically, teachers will learn how to build, lead, and participate in Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) programs and to coordinate and deliver evidence-supported interventions in the areas of behavior, literacy, and numeracy. In the optional licensure track, students will learn about behavioral methods, literacy strategies, educational research, and more.
