Program Details

Western State Colorado University offers a Master of Arts in Education / K-12 Online Teacher Leadership (Licensure) degree for students who wish to gain licensure in online teaching and learning that may be used in the educational field. Through this program, students will explore how to teach online in a virtual school and/or in a blended setting. Core courses will give students an understanding of how online teaching programs are developed, implemented, and evaluated. 


  • Requires on-campus, five-day orientation 
  • Demonstrate your knowledge of the content area you'd like to teach by either: passing a Praxis Subject Assessment OR holding a degree in the content area OR provide transcript evaluation that shows you have taken 24 semester hours of college coursework in your endorsement area
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Official transcript(s)
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher highly recommended
  • Criminal history check
  • Two professional recommendations
  • Resume
  • Personal statement
  • If seeking to complete alternative teacher licensing, must secure full-time teaching position
