Program Details

The online Bachelor of Arts in History degree from Western New Mexico University is a study of the past along with an attempt to help explain human nature and contemporary issues.  This degree in history also offers a foundation in the liberal arts since the knowledge of our past is a type of framework that unifies all other areas of study and produces an integrated overview.  Students will study history to gain an appreciation and understanding of the diverse population and globalization of the world around us.  In addition to courses in upper-level Spanish, you will also complete coursework in the humanities and fine arts, other general education core courses, and a writing-intensive minor degree program to complete this history degree. 

History core course requirements include:

  • World Civilization I  
  • World Civilization II 
  • American History I  
  • American History II 
  • History and Historians 
  • Senior Seminar in the Social Sciences
