Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services / Mental Health (BS Entry)
Walden University

Program Details

With the significant role that mental health plays in communities, there is a demand for professionals to connect those in need of services with the appropriate resources. In the Mental Health specialization, you will develop the skills to help individuals navigate community mental health services. The program explores the role of mental health in health behavioral changes, and you will gain a solid understanding of the assessment and referral system for mental health intervention and support. Your dissertation will explore an issue in mental health. As a graduate, you will be prepared for nontherapeutic counseling roles such as community mental health clinic coordinator, field service provider, and resource personnel, both in military and civilian agencies. Choose this track if you hold a bachelor’s degree (in any field of study) from an accredited university or a master’s degree from an accredited university in a non-related field of study (any discipline other than human services, counseling, social work, or psychology). This track provides you with the option of earning your MS in Human Services as you progress toward your PhD.
