Program Details
The General program of Walden University’s PhD in Human Services can be customized to the student’s personal and career interests. Courses are available from among any of the degree program’s specializations.
Graduates will be prepared to be leaders in creating change and addressing the needs of individuals struggling with illness, addiction, violence, and poverty. Courses examine ways to help people live more productive, fulfilling, and independent lives. This online Human Services degree program offers two tracks: Track I is designed for students with a master’s degree related to Human Services; Track II is a pathway for students with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an unrelated field.
The PhD in Human Services program offers courses within 14 specializations including:

- Community intervention and leadership
- Conflict management and negotiation
- Disaster, crisis, and intervention
- Military families and culture
- Social policy analysis and planning
