Program Details
In this specialization, you will explore the field of health psychology, changing health behaviors, the impact of stress on individuals, and ways of helping patients to cope. You will learn about behavioral biomedical theories and the effects of key factors on physical health and wellness, as well as issues related to cardiovascular and immune system health, including heart disease, stroke, cancer, and HIV/AIDS. Coursework explores models of health behavior change, disease prevention, disease management, and relapse prevention. You will examine contemporary theories on the perception of stress, appraisal of stressors, ways of coping, and the psychophysiological mechanisms involved in stress response.
