Walden University offers an online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentration. In this online nurse practitioner degree students gain the knowledge and skills needed to help meet the demand for mental health providers and to make a difference in the healthcare system. Courses teach students to assess, diagnose, provide therapy, and prescribe medications for patients with psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders, and substance abuse problems. While focusing on providing the advanced skills and practicum training required to treat children, adults, groups, and families, the curriculum offers a strong pharmacology component.
