Program Details

The Master of Science in Human Services from Walden University features a concentration in Mental Health.  This online master’s in human services degree is designed to prepare students to connect those in need of services for mental health concerns to the appropriate resources.  Courses provide the skills to help students navigate community mental health services.  You will study the role of mental health facilitation in health behavioral changes and gain an understanding of the assessment and referral system for mental health intervention and support.  Graduates are ready to provide nontherapeutic counseling roles as community mental health clinic coordinators, field service providers, and both military and civilian resource personnel in agencies for mental health.  

This master’s in human services degree also features courses in the broader field of human and social services.  This part of the curriculum focuses on building your effectiveness and professional skills in your chosen area of practice within a global context. As a student of the program, you will develop a holistic, interprofessional perspective that better equips you to help individuals, families, and organizations navigate social services in your community.

The program is not designed to lead to professional licensure.
