Program Details

Walden University offers the Master of Science in Forensic Psychology online degree with a concentration in Police Psychology for those students with an interest in working with law enforcement.  Courses provide insight into stress management and coping strategies while helping students understand the impact of dealing firsthand with victims and first responders.  You will study post-traumatic stress, gaining an understanding of this phenomenon and the increased suicide risk associated with it while also learning about the impact post-traumatic stress has on law enforcement personnel and their families.  Graduates of this master’s degree in forensic psychology are prepared to work with police departments and other law enforcement agencies by assisting in:

  • Officer selection and training
  • Stress management
  • Critical incident stress debriefing
  • Hostage negotiation

Students will also study general forensic psychology, learning how to drive positive change within the criminal justice system.  The curriculum examines the biological, psychological, and social factors impacting criminal behavior while providing a deeper level of understanding with criminal behavior.
