Program Details

The Master of Science in Education from Walden University is an online elementary education degree with a concentration in Science for Grades K-8.  This program blends content with pedagogy, teaching you science the same way you will teach science in the classroom, by using inquiry-based learning that promotes hands-on education.  You will learn to effectively teach science in a modern classroom, helping students build a foundation of strong scientific knowledge and abilities that will help them be competitive in the global marketplace later in life.  Graduates are prepared to:

  • Convey the major concepts, principles, theories, laws, and interrelationships of biology
  • Convey the major concepts, principles, theories, laws, and interrelationships of chemistry and physics
  • Convey the major concepts, principles, theories, laws, and interrelationships of earth and space science
  • Create interdisciplinary perspectives to explain the importance of science
  • Engage students in developmentally appropriate inquiries that require a scientific manner

All students completing a Master of Science in Education degree will explore beliefs and behaviors that contribute to higher teacher performance, cultural and linguistic diversity, and the skills needed to adapt to various learning and language styles.  Upon completion you will know how to leverage data assessment to be an instructional leader.
