Program Details
Walden University offers a secondary education degree online, the Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Mathematics & Science for Grades K-8. This program is designed for elementary and middle school teachers who want to advance their knowledge of science and mathematics for stem teaching. The curriculum offers strategies and a framework to ensure their students get a strong foundation in mathematics and science that they can build on in high school and beyond. Courses teach you about various manipulative materials and technological resources for the classroom and offer an understanding of connections among mathematical concepts and ideas that you can pass on to your students. Graduates are prepared to engage their students in active learning while helping them with problem solving skills that can be used in the real world. You will be able to develop a plan that uses inquiry, technology, and critical analysis for teaching students to distinguish science from non-science, to understand the evolution and practice of science, and to envision an integration of science knowledge, pedagogy, history, and philosophy.
