Program Details
Walden University offers an online counseling degree, the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Trauma and Crisis Counseling. This is designed for individuals who want to focus on gaining the counseling skills and theoretical foundations needed to assist those healing from trauma and to assist communities in managing crisis. The curriculum covers the theory, intervention strategies, and treatment models needed to counsel and support individuals and families during a crisis. Courses also teach students how to train and support first responders managing intense career demands and about crisis management and the leadership skills needed to help communities develop effective, responsive crisis management programs and trauma treatment centers.
You will complete courses in the broader field of clinical mental health counseling as well, preparing you to help others cope with the challenges of daily life. While studying the latest counseling theories, evidence-based research, and technology, you will gain confidence, qualifications, and critical thinking skills that will help you become a successful counselor.
