Walden University offers an online substance abuse counseling degree, the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Addiction Counseling.  This online counseling degree is designed for those interested in helping individuals and families deal with the unique emotional challenges addictions cause while also helping them find hope and healing.  The curriculum covers the various types of addictive behaviors and the contemporary treatment and intervention models used in recovery.  Upon completion you will be able to work with various clients in such settings as schools, businesses, and community agencies.  

You will also complete courses that cover the broad field of mental health counseling, preparing you to help others cope with daily struggles while working to overcome them.  Students explore the latest counseling theories, evidence-based research, and tools for preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders.
