Program Overview

Walden University offers the Master of Business Administration degree with a Specialization in Marketing for students and professionals in marketing and other fields who wish to develop their knowledge of advanced principles, practices, and strategies for organizations whose responsibilities include advertising, media, and other forms of marketing.

Students will learn about the marketing fundamentals alongside new advertising and sales strategies that have been driven by the advancement of technology and new media markets that are a result of the internet and social media. Students will examine global perspectives in marketing by assessing international marketplaces and cultural factors that influence marketing strategies and learn to collaborate with others whose responsibilities include finding new ways to sell products and services.

The program consists of classroom courses that emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education that will be applicable on the job. Those classes include international marketing, applications in marketing, marketing, innovation and technology, business strategies for competitive advantage, and business operations in the U.S. and other countries, as well as a capstone course where students will explore and analyze issues and situations faced by marketers, while using their education, skill, and ability to think critically to examine those issues.

Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as functional affective professional in their field.  These qualifications include the ability to demonstrate ethical, legal, and responsible behavior and explain the broader role that business has in society and their own responsibilities as a member of the business community and citizens in society.

    Bernie and Rita Turner founded Walden University in 1970 in order to provide an educational opportunity for working adults. The University immediately began to grow and by 1972, Walden conferred seventy degrees, including forty-six Doctorate degrees. Walden is a private for-profit university, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
