The Associate of Arts in Human Resources aims to prepare students for challenges in the workplace related to managing and developing people. This includes those interested in HR careers, as well as those who desire to improve their ability to solve problems, improve processes, and enhance the effectiveness of people in organizations. In addition to developing competencies in key HR activities including staffing, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, and legal compliance, the student may develop important skills in critical thinking, problem solving, technology, and business communication. Graduates should be expected to build a human resource management knowledge structure, develop core competencies in legal aspects and ethical issues of Human Resource in today’s work environment, demonstrate the use of personality profiles of employees, applicant pool development and assessing skills in pre-employment programs, and understand organizational behavior within today’s business environment.
