Program Details

Upper Iowa University offers the online MPA with a concentration in Government Administration. This program is designed to equip public administrators (aspiring and seasoned) with the skills and knowledge needed to manage public policy in the political and legal environment. The curriculum, framed by the public values of democracy, diversity, and due process, focuses on leadership and management, meaningful participation in the policy process, engaging a diverse citizenry, and improving decision making.

This Government Administration emphasis is intended for students who are pursuing leadership positions in local, state, or national government. The curriculum includes the following courses to choose from:

  • Seminar in Federalism and Intergovernmental Relations
  • Seminar in State and Local Government Management
  • Economic Development: Theory and Practice
  • Advanced Policy Analysis and Evaluation
  • Ethics of Public Service
  • Administrative Law


  • Must have a baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by an agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
  • GRE/GMAT test scores
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better in undergraduate degree
