Many licensing programs for counselors require 60 semester hours of classwork, however some degree programs conclude with only 48 hours of coursework. The online Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Counseling Certification was created by the University of South Dakota to fill this educational gap. This flexible, 12 credit, online program covers psychopharmacology, clinical supervision, psychopathology and crisis intervention. It will provide you with additional four courses to complete licensure requirements.
If you are outside the state of South Dakota, check with your own state board for licensing requirements.
