University of South Alabama

Program Details

The DNP in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Alabama is an online nurse practitioner degree for nurses seeking to advance their careers.  As an FNP, you will be serving as the primary care provider for patients of all ages.  You will work with families and family members in primary care clinics, health departments, rural health clinics, and other out-patient settings.  Therefore, the curriculum ensures that students are ready to competently assess, diagnose, and treat patients with acute illnesses or injuries, including ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and more.  Courses also prepare students to advocate for disease prevention and health promotion in evidence-based practice.

This DNP does not require a thesis or dissertation; students will complete evidence-based scholarly projects instead that are designed to improve healthcare and patient outcomes.
