Doctor of Nursing Practice / Clinical Nurse Specialist
University of South Alabama

Program Details

Are you a nurse that is seeking to advance in your career while taking on a leadership position?  The DNP in Clinical Nurse Specialist, an online nurse practitioner degree, prepares students to work as advanced practice nurses who focus on research, education, and consulting.  The curriculum ensures that you study evidence-based high quality nursing care that promotes patient safety.  You will also learn ways to improve patient outcomes while lowering healthcare costs.  Graduates will work in a variety of specialties depending on patient population, setting, condition, or type of care.  While students have the training needed to practice autonomously, assessing, diagnosing, and managing patient problems, they have careers in research and advocating rather than as primary care providers.

This DNP does not require a thesis or dissertation; students complete evidence-based scholarly projects instead that will improve healthcare and patient outcomes.
