Program Details

As the first program of its kind, UPenn's Doctorate in Clinical Social Work, was designed for working professionals to become distinguished leaders in the field.  Now, available fully-online, it enables practitioners from all over the world to benefit from a top-notched program without career disruption.  Over the first two years, you will move through the curriculum as a cohort, using distance education to bring you closer to your colleagues and professors.  The third year of this online DSW is used to prepare your published dissertation which will add to the body of social work knowledge.  Classes meet online, at regularly scheduled times and dates, to facilitate learning as a group and the exchange of ideas and knowledge.  Faculty comprises international social work experts, who develop cutting-edge courses, to give you the latest insight with regards to clinical practice, research and teaching.  There are two on-campus residency requirements within this program.  Samples of coursework include:

  • Trauma-informed Supervision
  • Substance Abuse Interventions
  • Relational Theory & Social Work Practice
