Program Details

Enroll in this behavioral science degree online and enhance professional opportunities.  The focus is on children ages 0-3.  Learn to recognize the uniqueness of the provision of instruction and/or service coordination in the field of Part C of the Federal IDEA legislation for early intervention.  Courses in this online special education degree cover the professional standards set forth by the Council for Exceptional Children Division of Early Childhood, including:

• Patterns of infant and toddler development and learning
• Functional assessment of development across domains
• Developmental disabilities
• Specialized instructional strategies to help children aged 0-3 learn

Prepare to promote caregiver-child interaction and gain an introduction to adult learning approaches to support caregivers and understand how cultural diversity affects family interactions and practices.

While this program does not lead to teacher licensure, it does prepare students to take the Tennessee Early Intervention Credential exams required to provide Developmental Therapy in Tennessee.
