Program Details
The University of Memphis offers an online sociology degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Students work closely with the departmental academic advisor to design a program of study that makes the best use of faculty expertise. This includes such areas as social, racial, ethnic, and income inequality; family, medical, educational, and urban sociology; deviant behavior and social problems; and the methodology of social research. The curriculum is designed using the American Sociological Association as a guide for the major skill sets students should possess. Therefore, courses teach students to conduct research and analyze data, communicate, think critically, and develop a global perspective. You will understand the development of theoretical, substantive, and methodological knowledge in sociology as well as the major theories, statistical techniques, and methodological approaches of the field.
