Program Details

The BS in Medical Laboratory Science in Health Services offered online by UMass-Dartmouth is a completion degree available to students holding a Medical Laboratory Technician certification via an associate’s degree from another accredited institution.  This unique degree studies today’s healthcare environment from business and policy perspectives and allows you to move from MLT status to an MLS. In such an ever-changing regulatory atmosphere, the insight and knowledge you gain in this program can set you apart from others in your organization and enhance your earning potential.  Coursework is likely to include subjects such as:

  • Macroeconomics
  • Accounting
  • Public policy
  • Ethics in healthcare

Requirements

General requirements:

  • 3.0 minimum GPA

Program specific requirements, as follow:

  • AS from an NAACLS-accredited program or equivalent coursework with ASCP CLT/MLT certification
  • Proof of certifcation
  • Minimum of 18 months work experience, or equivalent
  • Currently employed as an MLT in a clinical setting
