You can make a difference for people with vision loss through UMass Boston’s Graduate Certificate in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy. This program trains you to offer vocational opportunities, independent living, and educational development for people with vision loss.

Designed for teachers, therapists, and the like, the online rehabilitation therapies curriculum imparts the knowledge to teach others strategies for safe, independent living as well as daily living skills. You will gain practical hands-on experience and explore cutting-edge technologies through fieldwork. Topics of study include:

  • Methods of vision rehabilitation therapy

  • Visual functioning

The online rehabilitation therapies program provides eligibility to the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Furthermore, it prepares students for the national certification exam from ACVREP (Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals). Graduates find employment with state vocational services for the blind, rehabilitation agencies, programs for elders with visual impairments, private practices, nonprofits, and rehabilitation units of veterans hospitals.
