Bachelor of Science in Management Studies
The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) has been a part of the University System of Maryland since 1947. Since its founding, the school has worked to provide a convenient and relevant education for working adults, and few things have made this goal easier to reach than the boom in online classes. Students are now able to take classes online at their convenience through one of UMUC’s many programs. One such program is the Bachelor’s Degree in Management Studies (MS).
Businesses and organizations of all kinds are constantly searching for persons who would make good managers and organizational leaders. A good manager goes a long way in business efficiency and success, which makes this career both rewarding and challenging.
The MS program is an interdisciplinary program that prepares students for a variety of management careers in a variety of sectors. The program develops management skills by first creating an underlying foundation of knowledge in the fields of business, accounting, economics, statistics, and communication. With this knowledge in place, courses focus on proven management and leadership practices. Through the program, students will be able to implement and follow through with appropriate employment processes, effectively communicate in a variety of settings, develop and assess performance measures, and more.
All students are required to complete 120 credits of coursework to earn their degree. Those credits are broken down into three sections: major classes, general education requirements, and minor/elective courses. The required major classes include Organizational Leadership, Management and Organizational Theory, Decision Making, and Organizational Communication, in addition to the courses that lay the foundation in accounting, finance, human resources, and the other covered disciplines.
This degree can be earned completely online. Individuals interested in learning more are invited to reach out to UMUC program faculty.
