Program Details

University of Maryland Global Campus offers an online Master of Arts in Teaching. Students of this program will learn the latest strategies and practices within teaching secondary education. Typically, students pursue a Maryland teaching certification, but may also be able to pursue the certification in other states.


This program requires a full-time, 18-week teaching internship on-site at an approved secondary school.

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, with a major in the content area for which certification will be sought
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher in content area coursework
  • Official transcript analysis of previous coursework
  • Qualifying composite score on the Praxis CORE Assessment test, the Praxis I, SAT, ACT, or GRE
