Master of Education in Special Education

Program Details

University of Maine offers an online Master of Education in Special Education. The curriculum provides evidence-based practices for K-12 learning. Students will enrich their techniques and can choose from one of the following concentrations:

  • High Incidence
  • Low Incidence
  • Early Intervention
  • High and Low Incidence Disabilities (Dual Concentration)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Satisfactory performance on Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators AND on MAT or GRE (GRE/MAT waived if undergraduate GPA is 3.0 or higher)
  • Recommended GPA of 3.0 or higher for regular admission
  • Grade of B or higher in approved Exceptionalities course 
  • Recommendation letters
  • Essay
  • Fingerprinting and background check
  • Experience working in some capacity with students with disabilities
