The University of Illinois at Springfield offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program that prepares students for challenging careers as professionals in the public and private sectors. The core curriculum provides a strong foundation in computer science. Electives are chosen in consultation with the student’s adviser to ensure depth of knowledge in topics of particular interest to the student.
UIS admissions is based on college preparatory curricula, grade trends, and academic rigor. Consideration given to ACT/SAT scores, cumulative GPA, and class rank. Must submit official transcripts. Personal statement.
Program entry requires: a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.0 (4.0 scale). Statement of Purpose. 2 semesters of JAVA programming experience; and 1 semester each of Calculus, Discrete of Finite Math, and statistics (necessary prerequisites can be completed at UIS).
