Program Details

The online MMEd degree program from University of Georgia is designed for certified music teachers who wish to enhance their practitioner and research skills. The curriculum prepares students to assume academic leadership roles in curriculum design, mentorship, and teacher research, and offers three emphasis areas to suit students' personal interests and professional goals:

  • General Music
  • Choral Music 
  • Instrumental Music


  • Baccalaureate degree in music education from an accredited institution
  • Be certified, eligible for certification, or in the judgment of Hodgson School of Music faculty, have equivalent competencies to teach music in public/private K-12 schools
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Statement of purpose
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Résumé or curriculum vita
