Certificate in Sustainable Land Resource and Nutrient Management
The University of Florida (UF) offers a Certificate in Sustainable Land Resource and Nutrient Management through the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and under the Department of Soil and Water Science. This course of study is intended for individuals who are working in, or are interested in learning about, soil and water resource management and wish to become certified in these specializations without formally pursuing a graduate degree. This program’s distance learning delivery was implemented with professionals in mind who wouldn’t normally have the freedom to pursue a traditional certificate program on-campus due to family, location, or work commitments. Students who complete this program may be able to further their education and enrich their careers without sacrificing their work and family life.
This area of specialization relates to a variety of occupational opportunities related to food and biomass production, environmental interaction related to the storage, filtering, and transformation of nutrients and contaminants. The goal of all positions in this line of work is to manage this critical zone while minimizing adverse effects on the environment while optimizing production. Through UF’s Certificate in Sustainable Land Resource and Nutrient Management, students will gain knowledge of sustainable land resource and nutrient management. The core curriculum of the program consists of four credits, or 12 semester hours. Two of these courses are required, and the other two are electives that can be chosen by the student based on their personal interests and professional goals. This high level of coursework customization is just one of the many pros of this certificate program. Once students complete all of the necessary coursework of this program, they may possess all the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed personally and professionally within this field.
