Bachelor of Arts in Digital Arts and Sciences
The University of Florida’s (UF) Bachelor of Arts in Digital Arts and Sciences is a new program that is being offered for the first time in fall 2014. This course of study is intended to serve as a bachelor’s degree completion program. The target students for this program should have already earned an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university. The university designed the program this way so that students would have the ability to enrich their education and enhance their career potential, without sacrificing commitments to their current personal and occupational life.
This degree is offered under UF’s cutting-edge Digital Worlds Institute, which has gained a national and international acclaim for its development and deployment of interactive media innovations and online collaboration systems. UF’s Digital Worlds Institute strives to provide students with a well-rounded education in areas such as arts, communications, engineering, and sciences, all while looking through a digital sciences lens. The core curriculum of the program consists of 60 credits. Some of the courses students take while enrolled in this course of study span topics such as Foundations of Digital Culture, 3D Digital Animation Techniques, Interactive Storytelling, and Game Design Practices.
Through the use of interactive tools and technologies, the Digital Worlds Institute encourages interdisciplinary academic growth to all of its students. Through the University of Florida’s diversely talented faculty, and the multifaceted collaborative environment that UF provides, the Institute is able to achieve a platform for interdisciplinary research that could not have been reached within the restrictions of one department or institution. Students in this program will gain all of the benefits of this diverse learning environment, and will be excellently prepared for a variety of jobs within the exciting field of digital sciences.
