Program Details

The online Bachelor of Arts in Music Education program is designed for students preparing to teach music in elementary education in Grades K-6 in public or private schools.  Graduates of this degree program are eligible to apply for temporary teaching certificates in Music (Grades K-6).  The curriculum includes a Biblical foundation along with foundational courses in General Education.  Other courses are required in the foundational areas of Music, as well as courses in Music Ensemble, Applied Secondary Music, and Professional Education.  Concentrations are available in

  • Choral Music Education 
  • Instrumental Music Education


Education programs first require completion of 50 hours of coursework, including General Education Foundation and Biblical/Theological Foundation requirements; with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. BCF offers online associate programs in which students can gain entry credits. 

School application requires:

  • Active participation in a local Christian church for at least one year
  • Affirmation of faith and service form
  • Recommended by a local Christian church
  • Personal recommendation
  • Commitment to high moral character
  • Proof of immunizations for measles and rubella
  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Official transcripts from any and all institutions of higher education attended
  • SAT or ACT test scores (waived for transfer students with 24 or more semester hours)
  • Home-school students may have added requirements
