Program Details

The online Bachelor of Arts in History and Social Studies Secondary Education program is designed to prepare educators to teach Social Studies in grades 6-12, which is middle and/or senior high school.  Educators are prepared to teach in both public and private schools.  The curriculum features Biblical foundation courses along with foundation courses in General Education.  Courses specific to this degree include:

  • History of Economic Thought
  • Western Civilization: 1700 to Present
  • U.S. Government
  • Geography
  • History of the Middle East


Education programs first require completion of 50 hours of coursework, including General Education Foundation and Biblical/Theological Foundation requirements; with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. BCF offers online associate programs in which students can gain entry credits. 

School application requires:

  • Active participation in a local Christian church for at least one year
  • Affirmation of faith and service form
  • Recommended by a local Christian church
  • Personal recommendation
  • Commitment to high moral character
  • Proof of immunizations for measles and rubella
  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Official transcripts from any and all institutions of higher education attended
  • SAT or ACT test scores (waived for transfer students with 24 or more semester hours)
  • Home-school students may have added requirements
