Program Details

The online Master of Education in Reading program prepares graduates for careers in both public and private educational settings in which the primary focus is on addressing the needs of students in the context of reading.  The curriculum provides competencies in various areas of literacy including reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and visual representation which contributes to a broader understanding of topics including curriculums, instruction, and literacy dynamics that students face.  The Master of Education option is embedded with the Masters Reading Teacher (MRT) and Reading Specialist certificates options.

Requirements

  • All official transcripts
  • Official GRE scores
  • Hold a valid Texas teaching certificate, have successful scores on the TExES exam, or have a satisfactory score on the combined verbal and quantitative portions of the GRE
  • Undergraduate grade point average must be 2.75 overall (or) 3.00 on the last 60 hours in the undergraduate program
