Program Details

The online Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program extends the knowledge and intellectual maturity of educators through a program that offers educational preparation emphasizing specialized skills and creative independence.  The program prepares graduates for careers as content and pedagogy specialists; curriculum specialists, mentor teachers, and teacher leaders; and teachers at community colleges and high schools, as well as preparing for doctoral studies leading to positions in colleges and universities.  The degree allows educators to choose electives which can be used to earn graduate certifications such as gifted and talented, bilingual/ESL education, master reading teacher, school librarian, and principal certification.

Requirements

  • All official transcripts
  • Applicants must hold a valid Texas teaching certificate, earn passing scores on either one of the TExES content proficiency exams or the TExES Professional Pedagogy and Responsibility exam, or have a satisfactory score on the combined verbal and quantitative portions of the GRE
  • Undergraduate GPA must be 2.75 overall or 3.00 on the last 60 hours in the undergraduate program
