Enroll in online teaching degrees and advance professional opportunities. This concentration looks at social studies in education. You will focus on grades K-12 as you look at the role of education in fostering just and equitable societies. Other areas covered include:

  • Addressing key issues in civic engagement
  • Equity in education
  • Socially just teaching

Regardless of the concentration, all students earning this Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction will develop new theories of learning and teaching. Through rigorous research, active engagement in scholarly inquiry, and collaboration with faculty on significant research projects, you will learn how to help teachers overcome practical challenges that impede student success.
