Program Overview

This four-course online program is designed for K-12 teachers seeking a supplemental certificate for teaching children whose native language is not English (ESL) or for teaching children whose native language is Spanish (bilingual). As the U.S. population continues to become more diverse, individuals with ESL and bilingual certifications are highly marketable. The certificate program is designed to be completed in one summer (and is only available in the summer) and is open to teachers in almost all 50 states. The four courses focus on the history of ESL and bilingual education in the U.S., foundations of ESL and bilingual education, ESL/bilingual assessment, and content-specific pedagogies.
