Program Details

The Master of Social Work from Simmons University is an online MSW with a concentration in Child & Family available for those specifically interested in this area.  With the Child & Family concentration students complete a structured sequence of courses to gain advanced skills that will help them work with complex client systems, such as families.  You will also gain the practice expertise to assist individuals within the family or other client system, especially children.

All students earning an online master’s in social work will study models of therapeutic practice, theories of human development, relational and group process, cultural learning, and social policy.  You will complete courses that cover various theoretical frameworks and practice methods that you will be able to use in future practice, including:

  • psychodynamic theory
  • cognitive behavioral theory
