Post-Master’s Certificate in Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner
Seton Hall University

Program Details

The Post-Master's Certificate in Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner degree, an online AGNP program from Seton Hall University, is designed for nurses with master’s degrees in other areas who wish to further their educations and move their careers in this direction.  This degree builds the skills graduates need to serve adolescent to elderly populations as a nurse practitioner in acute care or primary care settings.  As you prepare to provide evidence-based compassionate care and improve your community, you will complete both didactic and clinical courses.

This nurse practitioner program gives students the opportunity to select one of two study tracks.  The Primary Care track focuses on disease prevention, health promotion and the management of patients with multisystem health problems.  Students prepare for practice in a primary care office, occupational health clinic or university health clinic.  The Acute Care track prepares students to take care of patients with acute and chronic disease management within hospital, urgent care, emergency room and subacute settings.  The curriculum focuses on a patient population with acute, critical, and chronic illness, disability, or injury.  Graduates may apply for certification as advanced nurse practitioners with the appropriate certifying bodies.

As students complete this geriatric nurse practitioner program online, they will complete a values-based curriculum that prepares them to act as servant leaders in a global society.  While learning, you will benefit from an immersive education with hands-on faculty who act as mentors and offer career support.
