Bachelor of Professional Studies in Organizational Leadership degree offered by Roosevelt University is a program of study that is available to students in a completely online format. This program combines management science, humanities, social sciences, research science, communication arts, technology, and ethics in order to best prepare students for a diverse approach to Leadership and Communications. A goal of this program is to help students hone their skills needed to create a positive impact in their workplace. According to this program, emphasizing the “human side” of an organization can do this. An objective of this program is to train leaders, who are skilled in managing innovation and change.
This program covers subjects such as: principles of effective leadership, organizations structure and communication, managing change, negotiation and conflict management, decision-making principles, diversity management, and communication processes. This program aims to equip its students with a foundational set of skills and knowledge dedication to Organizational Leadership. By the end of this program, a student should be able to perform the following skills and convey the following knowledge:
- To possess an understanding of themselves, others, and their organizations in order to better identify an organizational leadership style that fits within those contexts
- To recognize and possess necessary organizational leadership skills in various situations and to prepare a plan of action to improve organizational leadership abilities
- To value diversity and apply its strengths while leading; to know how to critically think about decisions in a manner that is socially responsible and responsive
- To demonstrate a persuasive, yet collaborative approach, which encourages a team-building environment
Students should also learn how to engender commitment and engagement among others within the context of their organization and to help to build an organization that can innovate and change according to its ever-changing environment.
A student who graduates from this program can expect career opportunities such as: consulting, employee development, employee recruitment, human resources, strategic planning, training, virtual organizational management, project management, and labor relations.
