Rio Salado’s paralegal program provides students with an overview of the foundations and types of law including business and tort law, and the fundamentals of litigation. Paralegals assist attorneys with legal research, legal writing, preparation of exhibits and case management. While not authorized to provide legal advice or practice law, paralegals are an integral part of the legal community.
The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Paralegal program is designed to provide students with training required for employment as a paralegal. Courses focus on paralegal responsibilities in the various areas of law practice, including the development of effective written and oral communication skills, critical thinking skills, computer proficiency, and legal research techniques. Legal theory and ethics integrated throughout the program. The total number of credits required for this certificate is 36-39.

Rio Salado College is a community college located in Tempe, Arizona that was originally founded in 1967 as one of the 10 Maricopa County community colleges.
