Program Overview

Raritan Valley Community College offers a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Education Requirement Certificate for undergraduate degree holders from accredited institutions who wish to pursue accountancy. This 55-credit program includes courses in accounting, economics, business law, financial management, and business administration.

Graduates are able to record business transactions resulting in financial statements and examine accounting information as a basis for economic decision making. Furthermore, graduates of the CPA Education Requirement Certificate program are entitled to sit for the CPA examination in New Jersey. However, the certificate program is not designed to prepare the students for the CPA examination. Passing the exam may require significant effort beyond the program.

    Raritan Valley Community College is a public, two-year community college located in North Branch, New Jersey. The institution was originally founded in 1966 as Somerset County College. The college was renamed Raritan Valley Community College in 1987 when it became the official community college for two counties: Somerset and Hunterdon. The mission of RVCC is to be “ educational community that works to develop critical thinking, foster intellectual curiosity, promote leadership, encourage social responsibility, support personal growth, and sustain engaged citizenship within a diverse population of students and community members.”

    RVCC offers associate's degree programs and certificates. Several programs can be completed entirely online.
