Bachelor of Arts in Substance Abuse Counseling

Program Details

The online BA in Substance Abuse Counseling degree program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to integrate Christian principles into counseling techniques with individuals, families, groups, and communities. Coursework covers topics in psychopharmacology, ethical and legal issues, theology, abnormal psychology, family dynamics, and more. 


This is a bachelor completion program. A total of 120 credits are required, including transfer credits. 

Minimum of 50 semester credit hours from an accredited institution of higher learning. Official transcripts. GPA of 2.0 or above (4.0 scale) on all prior work.

Students that complete the required 180 hours of chemical dependency education may be eligible to begin the Ohio state licensing processes with the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals board for Certified Chemical Dependency Assistance status (internship and exam also required). Those students living outside the state of Ohio will need to check with the appropriate state licensing board for requirements specific to their state of residence.
