Program Overview

Students who are interested in starting their own business may find that enrolling in the Associate of Applied Science in Business - Entrepreneurship can help take their career to the next level. This program typically takes about two years to complete and is designed for students planning on entering the business industry immediately after graduation.  Students wishing to continue their education with a bachelor’s degree should look into enroll in the business administration program.

The curriculum focuses on management skills needed in the workplace, which include marketing, salesmanship, steps on opening a business, and advertising. Students will also be required to complete an internship that will be based on the student’s past work history. The internship is normally completed in the summer and is a three credit course. Those who are unable to find internship positions are encouraged to consult their advisor for assistance.

This program requires successful completion of 67 credit hours. Courses cover various business topics including business math, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship business plan, and business law. Northeast Community College recommends taking a basic accounting course prior to enrolling in the principles of accounting class.

Northeast Community College offers this program in an online format, which allows working adults an opportunity to improve their career. Interested individuals should have self-motivation that will enable them to keep up with the courses while attending to personal and professional responsibilities. Students should have 24/7 access to course materials using the online learning system. Basic computer skills and reliable Internet connection is recommended for this program.
