Accounting - AA
Northeast Community College (NCC) offers an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. This program is designed for students who are interested in starting a career in the business field or planning to continue their education at a four-year college or university. Students can choose between an AAS or an AA degree. Based on the type of degree chosen, the number of credits needed to graduate will vary.
At NCC, the curriculum focuses on basic business concepts such as accounting terminology, and methods of operating an accounting system. This degree has the potential to be completed in two years and requires successful completion of 60 to 67 credit hours. Students enrolled in the AAS degree will be given the opportunity to participate in an accounting internship. Individuals planning to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program should contact the transfer school and work closely with an advisor to plan courses that will transfer smoothly.
Students will take a variety of general education and specific accounting and business courses. These courses can include business math, accounting with QuickBooks, spreadsheet accounting, and payroll accounting. Both of the associate’s degrees encourage students with no accounting background to enroll in the basic accounting course prior to starting the principles of accounting class.
This program participates in distance learning and encourages students to have basic computer skills and consistent access to the Internet. Course information will be available to students and can be viewed using a laptop, tablet or smartphone. Any additional questions about this program can be directed at Northeast Community College.
