Program Overview

The MS in Business and Information Systems at New Jersey Institute of Technology is ideal for those wishing to start a career in designing and evaluating business information systems for small and large-scale corporations. Students will learn business fundamentals and application systems design and development as well as learn how to analyze and evaluate computing applications and systems.

The program specifically prepares graduates to work as computing and information systems professionals in governmental positions, non-profit organizations and businesses.

New Jersey Institute of Technology divides its MS in Business and Information Studies degree into two parts, Business and Information Studies. Students will take 12 credit hours of business core courses and 15 credit hours of information systems courses. All other required credit hours are elective courses. In total, 30 credit hours complete NJIT's degree requirements.

Business core courses include Management Accounting, Corporate Finance, Organizational Behavior, Information System Principles. Information systems core courses include, Enterprise Database Management, System Analysis and Design, Business Process Innovation, Enterprise Architecture and Integration and IT Service Management.

Prospective students must have an undergraduate degree with a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or higher. Students who do not meet GPA requirements may still be considered if adequate work experience is highlighted in his/her application. Additionally, there is not a specific undergraduate degree required for admission into the MS in Business and Information Systems degree program Students who do not have undergraduate experience in information systems and/or business courses may be qualified to take bridge courses through NJIT. These courses aim to develop each student's knowledge and skills specifically in business and information systems.

All courses for the degree program are offered 100 percent online, partially online or on campus. New Jersey Institute of Technology is located in Newark, New Jersey, and is a public research university.

    Requirements

    Requirements for entry include a working knowledge of an object-oriented programming language, at least one semester of calculus, and one course in probability and statistics.
