Program Overview

Students who have their eye set on employment within a bank or other center of finance may wish to consider Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Financial Services Technical Diploma program. This program is offered completely online to allow for a non-traditional academic experience. Earning a Financial Services diploma could be an ideal fit for students who are currently working full time and cannot attend traditional on-campus classes. Successful graduates of this program will earn a technical diploma that they can immediately use to aid in their employment search.

Focused on teaching students a foundation of financial-based skills that are needed in areas like banks, credit unions, insurance companies, and other consumer-based finance companies, students will learn how the global and local economy affects banking on a year-to-year basis. This diploma also includes training in basic accounting skills. Technology classes offer an education on the most common used financial software that is used in most banks and accounting offices. Students will potentially learn how to sell financial services to a wide variety of consumers. Topics like Investment and Credit Management are included to insure that students are able to function in the often complex task of financial consultants.

This program consists of 28 credit hours of classes and is typically completed in less than a year. Students who have an interest in pursuing an AS in Accounting will have the option to potentially transfer the credits earned into an online associate's degree program offered by Milwaukee Area Technical College.
